Sea kayaking the secret Gilis of south-west Lombok

Small groups, real expedition kayaks and a string of islands almost nobody paddles. Half-day tasters through to six-day expeditions, led by guides who grew up on this coast.

Why paddle here

The archipelago most visitors never see

Everyone knows the three Gilis off the north-west corner. Almost nobody knows the twenty-odd islands scattered across Sekotong Bay in the south-west.

Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak, Gili Kedis, Gili Layar, Gili Asahan — sheltered turquoise water, empty white-sand beaches, live coral straight off the shore, and fishing villages that still run on outrigger jukungs. On a good day you will not see another kayak.

We paddle genuine expedition sea kayaks with rudders, bulkheads and dry storage — not sit-on-top rentals. That is what gives us the range to island-hop properly.

Why Lombok Kayaking

Local knowledge, proper kit, small groups

1

Guides from this coast

Our guides grew up in Sekotong and Lembar. They read this water daily and know which channel works on which tide.

2

Expedition sea kayaks

Rudders, sealed bulkheads, dry hatches. Plus PFDs, spray decks, VHF and a safety boat on the longer routes.

3

Four paddlers per guide

Never a convoy. Small enough to land where we like and change the plan when the wind does.

4

Light on the place

We carry out what we carry in, buy lunch from village warungs, and run a beach clean on every overnight trip.
